The Event Discovery Platform for Minneapolis & Saint Paul was designed and developed as a modern WordPress-powered website focused on helping users discover the best local events, nightlife, food experiences, concerts, family activities, and city guides across the Twin Cities.
The platform allows visitors to browse featured events, concerts, local attractions, family activities, nightlife experiences, and seasonal events through an easy-to-navigate interface. The homepage was strategically designed to highlight daily featured picks, curated guides, and trending local experiences while encouraging visitors to continue exploring the website.
The visual direction of the project was inspired by premium city lifestyle platforms and entertainment publications. I focused heavily on clean spacing, cinematic imagery, modern typography, and strong visual hierarchy to create an immersive browsing experience.
The homepage layout was carefully structured to guide users through featured events, local guides, spotlight activities, and newsletter signups without overwhelming the interface. Every section was designed with both user engagement and conversion optimization in mind.
“One great thing to do, every single day in the Twin Cities.”
SEO and website speed were major priorities during development. The entire platform was built with scalable SEO architecture designed to support long-term organic traffic growth. Event pages, category structures, and guide content were optimized to target local searches related to things to do in Minneapolis and Saint Paul.
The platform was also designed to maximize engagement and encourage repeat visits. Strategic call-to-actions such as “Browse Events,” “Submit an Event,” and “Buy a Day” were integrated throughout the website to improve user interaction and support monetization opportunities.
Hand-picked local experiences showcased directly on the homepage to increase engagement and repeat visits.
Event organizers can submit their own events for review and promotion directly through the website.
Built-in email subscription sections designed to grow a highly engaged local audience.
One of the biggest priorities during development was scalability. The website structure was carefully planned to support thousands of future event listings, local guides, seasonal experiences, and promotional campaigns without sacrificing speed or usability.
The platform was built using a lightweight WordPress setup combined with performance-focused frontend development techniques to ensure fast page loading times and smooth navigation across all devices. Dynamic event layouts, reusable content sections, and optimized archive structures make the platform easy to expand as the audience and content library continue to grow.
Special attention was also given to mobile usability since a large percentage of users discover local events directly from their phones. The responsive layouts, optimized typography, touch-friendly navigation, and lightweight design system help create a seamless browsing experience for visitors looking for things to do around Minneapolis and Saint Paul.
The final result is a modern event discovery platform that combines high-end design, local SEO optimization, scalable WordPress development, and conversion-focused user experience into one powerful digital platform for the Twin Cities community.
The final result is a fast, modern, and highly scalable event discovery platform built specifically for the Twin Cities audience. The website successfully combines modern UI/UX design, local SEO strategy, conversion-focused architecture, and scalable WordPress development into a premium digital experience.
